Now that Easter is over and, Jesus has been resurrected, we continue to consider what Christ has paid for. This week we focus primarily in Romans chapter 6, and Galatians 2:19, which speaks to all Believers who are Dead to Sin, and Alive to God.
Satan has no power over born-again believers in Jesus. Becoming a believer (saved;born-again Christian) has many blessings, one of which is being officially set free from sin and death (Romans 8:2). In the new freedom we can live a resurrected life all year long, not just a Easter celebration.
Every believer is not their own, they have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We have been translated (transferred) from under the powers of darkness (Satan’s realm) to the Kingdom of Father God’s Beloved Son (Jesus) (Colossians 1:13). We, through Christ become a new creation.(2 Corinthians 5:17) Behold…..
With this transfer of ownership of ourselves, becoming one of God’s kids, comes freedom from everything that the devil was placing on us with temptations and lies, when we served the devil, than becoming saved (1 John 3:10). Romans 10:9-10 says, If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. When Jesus is Lord of your life, every decision about your life is now made by God. In declaring with your mouth that Jesus is Lord you have given your life to Jesus. At this moment we have been bought with a price.(1 Corinthians 6:19-20) It is not I who live but Christ who lives in me. (Galatians 2:19) From that moment on, what you want, how you want it, when, where, is up to Jesus Christ. Apart from Him you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Nevertheless it is possible, for a believer in Jesus, to still have a sin nature. The believer could be not fully aware of what it means to be set free from the powers of darkness. The believer in some cases, returns to the old way of thinking and is walking in a life directly contrary to who god created them to be. The bible says be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2) Therefore
The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 6, it is such a pitiful situation for a born-again believer to still live as though salvation never occurred; remaining in sin when Christ has paid for us to be completely set free from it.
Satan and his demonic following cannot force us to do anything. Our own free will has to agree with what he suggests we do in order for him to work through us for his own will. This tends to happen often, especially when we are still his children (1 John 3:10).
However, when we invite Jesus into our heart, believe in Him, confess our sins and turn the other way from them, we are no longer children of the devil, but a child of God. the enemy cannot force us to do anything. He can tempt us, but the grace of God allows us to have the strength and will power to say no.
Galatians 2:19-21 (NASB)
19 For through [a]the Law I died to [b]the Law, so that I might live to God.20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and [c]the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through [d]the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
John Piper: “When we belong to Jesus, we’re finally able to make God look glorious in our lives.”
